The Indian Institutes of Technology are India's most prestigious engineering universities under the IIT Act, 1961. Admission is exclusively through JEE Advanced. Of ~13 lakh JEE Main takers, only ~17,000 get IIT seats — a 1.3% selection rate.

JEE Advanced has two mandatory papers — Paper 1 (9 AM–12 PM) and Paper 2 (2:30–5:30 PM) on the same day. Missing either paper = immediate disqualification. Pattern changes yearly based on organising IIT.
